The Ministry of Infrastructure Development, Public Utilities, Energy, Transport and Implementation in collaboration with the Royal Grenada Police Force is advising the public that Jones Road is temporarily re-opened. The Fire Department of the RGPF commenced cleaning of the road surface that was covered with mud. The mudslide was caused by development action along the road by a private citizen for a private project. The road while open for traffic, could be closed again based on possible rainfall.
The alternative routes to be followed in such a case are:
- Grenville Vale Road for the motoring public coming from St Patrick, St. Mark, St. John and parts of St. George as the alternative route for travelling to St. George’s.
- Persons travelling from the parish of St. George to the parishes along the Western Main Road Corridor will be required to use the Road connecting Mt Moritz and Moliniere.
The Ministry is working with the Department of the Environment for a solution to the problem.
The Ministry apologizes for the inconvenience and commits to providing regular updates.
The support and cooperation of the general public is anticipated.
