Voter and civic registration Officer, Ferdinand Phillip of the Parliamentary Elections Office, is refuting claims that the office is engaged in attempts to rob voters of their right to vote, as one caller on our “Plead Your Cause” program declared this morning.

Phillip says there’s no truth to this.

The caller did complain that he was told if he does not get the replacement ID card his name would be removed from the list.

However, Ferdinand Phillip is saying there’s been no official announcement on this, but however, by law, the ID card is a requirement to vote.

Ferdinand says the general objective is to make the process as easy as possible for voters to exercise their franchise.

Phillip tells us that the consolidated list of electors has been posted in appropriate locations in the various polling areas where it can be scrutinized by the public.
