Minister for Youth and Sports and Minister for Mental Health, Wellness and Religious Affairs, Hon. Delma Thomas, has expressed deep sadness following the death of 24-year-old Francis Rennie, who succumbed to injuries sustained during the recent incident at La Fillette.
In a statement issued today, Minister Thomas extended her heartfelt condolences to Rennie’s family, loved ones, and friends, describing his passing as a heartbreaking loss for both his family
and the wider community.
She noted that Rennie had dreams, aspirations, and a promising future, making his death even more heartbreaking.
The Minister also acknowledged the families of the young men who have been charged in connection with the incident and are currently on remand, saying they too are facing a difficult and
painful period as the judicial process unfolds.
Describing the incident as a sobering reminder of the devastating consequences of violence, Minister Thomas urged the public to celebrate responsibly during the Carnival season, resolve conflicts peacefully, and show respect for one another.
She concluded by offering prayers for comfort for Francis Rennie’s family, strength for everyone affected by the tragedy, and peace within communities across Grenada.
