66 individuals on the Sister Isles of Carriacou are reported to have received their 1st shot of the Pfizer vaccine as the roll out began there yesterday.
The Sister Isles received close to 120 doses of both the AstraZeneca and Pfizer vaccines from mainland Grenada Wednesday.
In a breakdown of the vaccination process 66 received Pfizer as their 1st dose while 3 took Pfizer as their 2nd dose, having taken the AstraZeneca as their 1st dose.
13 received the AstraZeneca as their 1st dose and 10 as their second dose.
The vaccination operations were conducted at the Hillsborough health center.
Community Health Nurse in Carriacou and Petite Martinique, Donette St. Bernard, said the turn-out on day one was encouraging and is reminding the public that the vaccination drive is continuing today into next week.
With an increase of COVID cases on mainland Grenada currently, Nurse St. Bernard is emphasizing the importance of avoiding complacency.
She highlighted the importance of the vaccine in protecting the Sister Isles.
