CARICOM Member States Sign International Declaration On Transnational Organised Crime In The Global Fishing Industry

Grenada is among 12 Caribbean Regional Fisheries Mechanism (CRFM) Member States, to sign the Copenhagen Declaration last week simultaneously endorsing the Blue Justice Initiative. 

    

Grenada and the other countries affirmed their resolute support to combat Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) Fishing and transnational-organized crime in the fishing industry. 

 

The Initiative focuses on strengthening cooperation among countries and building capacity to address transnational organized crime in the global fishing industry and to combat IUU Fishing.  

  

Member States have attested to the monumental cost of unregulated fishing to the region. 

 

The other Member States signing the declaration are the Bahamas, Trinidad and Tobago, Belize, Suriname, the Turks and Caicos Islands, Jamaica, Montserrat, St. Kitts/Nevis, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, St. Lucia and Guyana.
