193 More Covid Cases Identified

The latest covid report published last evening shows increasing signs of cases that have been identified within a 24-hour period.

Off the 1,105 tests conducted yesterday, 193 persons have turned up positive, sending the number of active cases to 624.

It brings the cumulative confirmed cases to 6,531, up from the last figure of 6,338.

There have been 5,707 cumulative recoveries, with 12 new recoveries over the latest report period.

There have been no new deaths and no hospitalizations.

An additional 51 persons have received the second dose of vaccine, now amounting to 35,897, the number of persons taking the second jab.

The partially vaccinated population is listed at 5,698.

2,533 individuals have received booster doses.

Meantime, the island’s Acting Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Shawn Charles, says the country started off the New Year on a second wave of the Coronavirus, with an increase in COVID cases on island.

Dr. Charles says with the high demand currently for testing, the Ministry continues to offer free testing at all medical facilities.
