Minister of Youth, Sports & Culture Hon. Ron Redhead, and Permanent Secretary within the Ministry Mr. Norman Gilbert, toured facilities at the National Cricket Stadium, on Wednesday.
The team from the Ministry was accompanied by General Manager for the Grenada National Cricket Stadium Mrs. Shurla Harris-Fields and Technical Officer Mr. Patrick Louison.
The visit sought to update the Minister on the present condition of the facilities and areas needing attention.
The National Stadium, at Queens Park St. George, was among the structures affected by last weekend’s gust front, and as a result, the Minister was also updated on areas that require immediate intervention including roof repairs.
Minister Redhead says Government intends to focus heavily on capacity-building for future maintenance of the facility.
The maintenance work on the National Cricket Stadium will be undertaken by the Peoples’ Republic of China, through a special contractual arrangement.
