OECS DIRECTOR GENERAL CALLS FOR REVAMPING AGRICULTURAL ACTIVITY IN SCHOOLS

OECS Director General, Dr. Didicus Jules, calls for the revamping of agricultural activity in the sub-region’s schools, to help beef up food security.

He was here yesterday at what’s been dubbed the OECS, USAID, UNICEF-organized CEO Breakfast at the Radisson Hotel.

He admits today there are new technologies that make agriculture more exciting than that of the traditional fashion.

Dr. Jules says there’s need for them to be introduced in the syllabus in schools.

At the occasion yesterday, Prime Minister, Dickon Mitchell, issued an advice for the region to take a fundamental relook at the education system.

He says it must make more room available for skills training and vocational skills.

According to him, the region needs it.

Prime Minister Mitchell is of the view the region needs to cease “perpetuating the myth that certification alone is education”
