SAEP Is Ensuring Livestock Farmers In Carriacou Have Sufficient Feeding For Their Animals

0

The Climate Smart Agriculture and Rural Enterprise Programme (SAEP) is ensuring farmers and 4Her’s in Carriacou are able to feed their animals, especially during the dry season.

A SAEP-sponsored training session in climate change and silage production has just been conducted in Carriacou. Silage is described as forage that has been pickled and preserved for later use by animals.

Extension Assistant Lisa Walker noted that silage is one of the most cost-effective ways to feed animals and aids in the improvement of livestock nutrients intake.

She said that while the turnout by local farmers was low, trainers are still available to conduct sessions on the farms of livestock owners.

Walker was supported in the training by Extension Assistant Eamon Thomas.
