REPUBLIC BANK WORKERS STAGE INDUSTRIAL ACTION

0

Workers of Republic Bank branches here took strike action today over failure of the institution’s management to arrive at a new collective agreement.

The workers, represented by the Bank and General Workers Union (BGWU), complain of being frustrated over the long haul of negotiations.

Joseph Mitchell, President of the Bank and General Workers Union, gives us an indication of the workers’ gripes.

Mitchell also says three residual articles out of the negotiations are still to be finalized.

Mitchell is hoping for a settlement in the matter at the soonest possible time, indicating it’s overdue.

The BGWU President believes all avenues at reaching a settlement have been exhausted.

Wee FM News have tried obtaining a comment from officials of Republic Bank on this matter, but that has proven futile.
