Opposition MP, Kate Lewis-Peters, speaks of todayโs crime and violence as an infiltration eroding the community spirit and the Grenadian identity.
The current state of crime and violence provoked comments by MPโs at a House of Representatives meeting yesterday.
Lewis, who, at the time of the former Government, was occupied in the Ministry of Youth, indicated that a lot has to be done particularly as it relates to youth engagement, so as to prevent any increase in social decadence.
Lewis-Peters issued a call for stake leaders in communities to step up and engage in efforts to stem the tide of the pervading crime and violence.
She indicated that the opposition also has a pivotal role to play in the process and that has already begun.
Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture, Ron Redhead, believes thereโs need for greater collaboration, though being on different sides of the political fence.
He calls for everyone to be genuine in the process, seeing it as the essence of dealing with such serious matters.
Reporting on the IMANI Programme, Redhead noted what he termed โextreme progressโ with the transitioning of several of those involved into permanency.
