Republic bank says it’s this year providing financial and other support to the organizing committee of the Carriacou Regatta Festival.

This, according to a release from the financial institution, is part of its commitment to ensuring the festival’s longevity.

Commenting on the initiative, Acting General Operation Manager Operations of the Bank, Mavis Mc Burnie, noted that the “Traditional boat building and sailing remain a way of life for residents on the sister isle and the institution is pleased to do its part to ensure the island’s major festivals like Regatta, is preserved for future generations.”

The Bank says its contribution will directly assist with branded shirts and prizes for winners in the Large Deck Sloop category of races.

Five boats have already registered to compete.

Republic Bank welcomes visitors to Carriacou for the festival and extends best wishes to the participants, the hard-working organizing committee and sailing enthusiasts, for a safe and enjoyable Regatta Festival 2023.

The Bank further notes that it remains committed to building successful societies by contributing meaningfully to national festivals.

The Carriacou Regatta Festival runs from August 4 to 7.

It was launched on the 6th of last month.

It’s said to be the oldest Regatta event in the West Indies.
