The fight against poverty is being accelerated this year 2024, with the Organization of the Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) and the World Bank partnering to tackle the scourge.
Poverty reduction in the context of sustainable development remains high on the agenda for the OECS Commission, in pursuit of the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 1- The Eradication of Poverty in all its Manifestations.
Following requests made by Member States, officials of the three institutions in Trinidad re-launched the Enhanced Country Poverty Assessment Programme and Data Anonymization Workshop.
The re-launch event was conducted via a hybrid modality of in-person, as well as live streamed for virtual attendees across the Caribbean region. It’s due to end Thursday.
OECS Director General, Dr. Didacus Jules, says the project represents a commitment to understanding and addressing the multi-faceted nature of poverty in the region.
