The issue of the Cell Phone saga with former Government Senator, one-time Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Ecclesiastic Affairs, Sheldon Scott, has once again come to the fore.

The matter was brought to the public domain back in July 2019.

A letter was sent to the then Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance Ms. Patricia Clarke indicating that Mr. Scott accepted full liability and responsibility for all charges incurred on the phone account which was $115,393.32 now with accrued interest of $41,544.30.

The total figure according to the Attorney General, Claudette Joseph, is now $156,937.62.

He has also indicated that he wanted to have an amicable formula for repayment or payment of any sums paid or owed on the said account which was not forthcoming to date.

This morning the Attorney General and Minister for Legal Affairs held a live briefing in which she highlighted the issue.

The Attorney General says Scott was served with a pre-action protocol letter yesterday.

The Attorney General went on to explain what could happen if Sheldon Scott doesn’t make repayment.
