New Drugs In School

THE ST. ANDREW’S ANGLICAN Secondary School (SAASS) has posted information on its News Bulletin Board warning students about what can be described as an” illegal drugs scam” that can cause harm.

The information is suggesting that manufacturers are becoming increasingly creative in disguising illegal drugs, making them appear harmless to unsuspecting students.

Recently, it’s said that substances such as ecstasy, edibles, honey packs and flavoured vapes, have been circulating in schools in the form of candies, cakes, inhalers and other sweet treats.

Students are being encouraged to be on the alert since the drugs are designed to look and taste like regular snacks but can have serious health consequences, and that students may unknowingly consume them if offered by peers or strangers.

Some of the substances, according to the information posted may cause dizziness, altered behavior and even severe medical emergencies.

The school is also encouraging parents and the public at large to be aware and be vigilant in keeping the Nation’s children safe by working together to protect them from hidden dangers.

Talk to your child about the dangers of accepting candy or snacks from anyone -even friends-if they are unsure of the source, the bulletin says.

It says stay informed about the latest trends in drug concealment and report any suspicious activity to the school or relevant authorities…the treats look and taste like candy but they are not.
