The 2026 Grenlec Debates are nearing their conclusion, with four secondary schools advancing to the Semifinals following weeks of thought-provoking discussions, challenging motions and impressive performances.
For the students who have made it this far, each round has brought new challenges, unfamiliar perspectives and moments that have called on them to trust their knowledge, think on their feet and find their own voices.
The Semifinals will explore the theme Climate Change, with students examining its impact on Small Island Developing States (SIDS), the responsibilities and costs of climate action for developed and developing countries, and priorities for climate change mitigation and carbon emission reduction in small island nations.
As the competition moves closer to the Finals, Grenlec looks forward to seeing the remaining teams build on all they have learned and bring their perspectives to another round of engaging debates.
