We have reports of a fire which broke out in the Mon Toute area around mid-afternoon today.
The fire is said to have started in a concrete building, and further igniting two other houses in close proximity.
How the blaze started is not yet identified, but we are told that villagers in the area observed smoke billowing from the concrete structure and they ventured to extinguish the blaze, but off to no avail.
At the same time, the fire department was summoned and there were two fire tenders on the scene, one of which is owned by St. George’s University.
We were told that only two of the occupants of the three houses were at home at the time.
The villagers are said to have saved an elderly woman and a young boy from the blaze.
The ugly scenes of the fire were parading on social media, with onlookers engaged in making derogatory comments against fire officers.
