Prime Minister, Dickon Mitchell, says the Grenada Cabinet has agreed to dissolve the Marketing and National Importing Board (MNIB) starting February 28.

This, as the ultimate decision to reform the MNIB with a name change for the entity is expected.

Speaking to members of the media on the subject of the cash-strapped entity, Prime Minister Mitchell outlined six-month time frame for the MNIB dissolution.

As it relates to the way forward, with the Government taking up the MNIB financial tab, the Prime Minister had this to say.

He says with the creation of a new entity, it’s expected that some of the assets of the MNIB will be transferred, particularly the assets of the River Road facility, and they’ll go about seeking private-sector investment during the six-month period to be able to take part in the new public-private partnership.
