Governor Of The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank, Timothy Antoine, says 2023 has been like no other, especially with many highlights featuring the Bank’s 40th anniversary.

Among them were a virtual museum, lectures, the inaugural ECCU Youth Parliament, global conference, a gala and awards ceremony and the launch of a 2-dollar note, the first in the sub-region without the image of the British monarch.

This was outlined in his 2023 Christmas Message, where he did give an idea about the state of things economically over the period.

Meantime, the ECCB has sent out notice pertaining to a survey to obtain people’s views on the suggested replacement to the monarchial image on the EC currency, enshrined since 1965.

Last month, the Bank’s monetary council approved the replacement of the Queen’s image on the Eastern Caribbean (EC) currency.

The proposed replacement is an emblem which depicts the flags of ECCB member countries.

The Council views it as providing a more holistic reflection of the ECCU (Eastern Caribbean Currency Union).”
