Woman Gives Birth To Baby On A Bus

Eyewitness Account:

“On Friday 14th,2020 approximately 9:30 AM an eastern main road bus picked up a pregnant woman at Bellevue Medical Center.

Upon entry into the bus, she was having a lot of pain and the bus conductor asked her why she didn’t stay at the clinic and she said that the nurses told her that there is no ambulance available to bring her to the General Hospital.

On the way from Bellevue all the way down to town it was a race against time. The lady felt the baby making its way out. The driver did his best to make it to the general hospital as fast as possible but safely. They even slowed down at the Westerhall Medical Center for help, but it was closed. Along the way even though the hazard light was on and the driver kept blowing his horn, traffic didn’t seem to care. On the Carenage, 5 minutes away from the hospital the baby was completely out, alive and crying. THANK GOD.

It was a mixture of joy and sorrow. The only persons that cooperated in the situation including the driver and the conductor were the 6 passengers because they didn’t mind passing their destination to assist in getting to the hospital with minimal stops because every second was like a ticking time bomb.

Finally arriving at the hospital, the nurses were quite unprofessional to the people in the bus who helped deliver the baby by verbally dismissing them. This whole situation shows how poor and undeveloped the health system is in Grenada.  God is so great and mighty and it’s sad that he must prove himself to people that he is God and they still don’t care.”
